Russia, looking for to elminar its dependency of foreign and commercial software, will install an operating system and application packages developed in its country in each PC of its schools. They glide to prove software in three regions for the 2008 and to arrive at the final mission for the 2009. The Russian government will summon to licitation.

Its primary target is to give to the educative system the posiblidad to obtain software provided by the government, without clearing the possibility to him of obtaining software payment. They glide to adapt products existing to local platforms, to develop new applications or to use as it bases the applications existing Open Source. Sergey Shalmanov, analyst of CNews thinks that the goals are realistic, says that Software based on Linux that can be testeado in the 2007 and the 2008, can arrive at the schools for the 2009. In addition it comments that to tie a young user to platforms of a company (as Microsoft) is not beneficial for the society. Alexey Smirnov, Chief of a main directorate of the ALTLinux company, also thinks that it is possible to obtain it on time, and clarifies that the important thing is not to begin of zero but to use operating systems existing Open Source. An excellent initiative, that the children are accustomed to the freedom of the Open Source is non-paymentable. I hope that this “experiment” fulfills its expectations, so that other cities or paises are animated “to also experiment” with the Open Source and that it is the beginning of the elimination of commercial software in the schools of the world. Our descendants will already ***reflx mng themselves when they find out that pagabamos by SO.
